The game’s orange hero isn’t some anthropomorphized, talking tabby running around on two legs. Stray has perhaps the easiest selling point in the history of video games: Live out your ultimate fantasy by controlling a totally normal cat. Much has been made about the game’s adorable feline lead since the game was first announced, but Stray isn’t just a cute gimmick it’s a forward-thinking science-fiction game about our increasingly complicated connection with technology.īetween its clever (though limited) gameplay ideas and weighty social commentary, Stray is a special experience that works best as a futuristic mood piece. Developed by BlueTwelve Studio, the adventure game imagines a not-too-unbelievable future where humans have destroyed themselves, leaving overgrown plants, animals, and sentient robots to take charge of the Earth. And to be honest it has to come to Xbox – cats love boxes.Stray explores that very intersection with a sense of cat-like curiosity. The game is already available for PC via Steam, so even without an Xbox-version, it could (theoretically) come to PC Game Pass. Considering, that Stray was released on July 19 in 2022 a launch this July, one year later seems to be possible given the hints.Ĭonsidering the big success of the game, we think that Microsoft will definitely try to strike a deal to get it onto Xbox Game Pass as soon as possible. Usually, these kinds of deals last around a year, which would mean that Stray could come to Xbox already this year – between mid and late 2023. How long the PS- and PC-exclusivity will last is not clear yet, though. This strongly suggested that Stray would come to other consoles than the PlayStation, giving players hope for a release of the game on Microsoft consoles.
At the end of the very first teaser trailer for the game, released in 2020, it says, "Console exclusive for a limited time".
